Listen to the mustn’ts, child. Listen to the don’ts. Listen to the shouldn’ts the impossibles, the wont’s. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me… Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.

Shel Silverstein

Then do something that doesn’t feel like work.

Tom F - in response to my dilemma of needing to go back to work for financial reasons but resisting it because I now know what it’s like not to work, to have time and a personal life, and to be able to do the things I want to do during the day.

..and might I add the most critical **action** too.

..and might I add the most critical **action** too.

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face … You must do the thing you think you cannot do.

Eleanor Roosevelt

Most of the time, bad things aren’t as bad as they first appear…and good things aren’t either.

A really nice articulation from the President around the Gay predicament (real for some Americans).  Yes, we do just want to be recognized as people (even for our character and performance) and to be part of the family like everyone else—and to move beyond being tolerated to being fully accepted.  We want to be unafraid of who we are like everyone else.

Taking Care of Myself means…

Swimming; spider-man workouts; hiking; making myself comfortable where ever I am; doing the things that make me happy; not listening to what people tell me I am or should do or what is, but formulating my own thoughts and beliefs; gratitude prayers; journaling; blogging; getting lots of veggies regularly and eating mostly whole foods; line dancing; Sunday dinner with my parents; time with my sisters; being in nature; Rapids games with friends; watching Glee; time with my friends; and lots of Eric time, too, to just be and rest or do all sorts of things; ATM lessons; continuing education; lots and lots of water; interesting work; getting things done from goals and daily objectives; toastmasters; having something to do in the morning—work is a good one; honest reflection and awareness; a variety of social connecting and support; church talks and community; reading encouraging and interesting books and articles; making decisions quickly to avoid unnecessary stress; saying no; saying yes; expressing myself to others; be where I am and breathing; taking responsibility for me and my life; lots of hugs and kisses; remembering that having fun and seeking pleasure is one of life’s greatest gifts; guiding my thoughts to remember or imagine the good and the possible; reaching out and loving others.

From Margaret Thatcher

“Oh, but you know, you do not achieve anything without trouble, ever.”

“Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It’s not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it’s when you’ve had everything to do, and you’ve done it.”
